New Jersey Rescue Dog Lost His Littermates As A Baby, Then Became An Unlikely Helper To Other Little Ones
After surviving a tragic beginning, Buddy the New Jersey rescue dog found his true calling as a gentle foster uncle to shy puppies and tiny kittens.
A Heartbreaking Beginning

Before Buddy was a confident and happy dog, he was a tiny, vulnerable puppy in desperate need of help.
He was found when he was just a few days old in Puerto Rico. A local rescue organization took him in, hoping to give him and his littermates a fighting chance.
Sadly, the litter faced immense struggles, and some of Buddy’s siblings passed away.
Despite the tragic loss, Buddy held on. He proved to be a fighter, waiting for the day a loving family would finally bring him home.
Finding His True Personality

Buddy was eventually adopted and brought to his new forever home.
In a safe environment, the sweet puppy started to show his true personality very early on.
His family quickly realized how smart and incredibly social he was with all animals.
They knew right away that they had brought home a very special boy with a massive heart.
A New Family Mission

Buddy’s social nature and love for other animals gave his family a wonderful idea.
When Buddy was about a year old, they decided to open their home to foster animals.
From the very first arrival, Buddy was thrilled. He loved the excitement of meeting new animals and welcoming them into his space.
It didn’t take long for his family to realize that Buddy was going to be their greatest helper.
The Paw Of Approval

One day, the family brought home a new foster puppy that looked strikingly similar to Buddy.
Because introductions can be unpredictable, Buddy’s mom was very cautious at the beginning.
She brought the new foster puppy out on a leash to meet the resident dog.
Instead of being territorial, Buddy walked right up to the little dog and gently put his paw on the puppy. It was an amazing, reassuring moment.
Welcoming Tiny Kittens

Buddy’s gentle nature wasn’t just reserved for other dogs.
When the family brought home tiny foster kittens, Buddy’s first reaction was pure, curious interest.
His mom would hold the fragile kittens in her hand, and Buddy would slowly come over to sniff them.
Once he figured out they were babies, he calmed right down and gently cuddled with all of them.
Teaching Important Life Lessons

As more fosters came through the door, Buddy took on the role of a wise, protective uncle.
He does everything with the foster animals, but he also tailors his approach to what each baby needs.
If a foster is really shy, Buddy gently teaches them confidence and shows them they are safe.
If a foster is wild and crazy, he patiently teaches them boundaries and calmness.
The True Foster Parent

Buddy knows when these vulnerable animals need help, and he is always happy to provide it.
He is a joyful, happy dog who is always eagerly waiting for the next foster to arrive.
His family marvels at how a dog who lost so much in his early days has so much love to give.
In fact, his family often jokes that it’s not them fostering the animals—it’s really Buddy.
