When rescuers first laid eyes on the sweet dog, he was in incredibly rough shape.

They officially pulled him from Chicago Animal Care and Control to give him a fighting chance.
Settling Into A Safe Space
Once they brought him home, the couple immediately started him on a high-quality diet to help him regain his strength.
He proved to be an incredibly sweet dog, though he was understandably shy at first.
Everything in the world and around their house was new and slightly intimidating to him.
But with patience, they allowed him to decompress at his own pace.
The Healing Process
The next step was figuring out the best way to care for all of his lingering wounds.
His fosters weren’t even sure if the hair on the back of his ears or his tail would ever grow back.
Yet, through all the medicated baths and treatments, the dog never complained.
Despite being sick and exhausted, all he really wanted was to be hugged.

As the days and weeks went by, the shy dog slowly started to open up and blossom.
To his family’s delight, he grew most of his missing hair back.
He also gained a significant amount of weight, adding a healthy seven pounds to his once-fragile frame.
His energy returned, and he showed a deep love for walking, meeting people, and playing with other dogs.
Advocating For Misunderstood Pups
His foster mom notes how unfortunate it is that bully breeds often face a negative stigma.
When visiting municipal shelters, the long-term residents are frequently bully breeds who are unfairly overlooked.
In reality, dogs just like him are often the biggest babies of them all.
