South Carolina Puppy Was Abandoned With Painful Scabs On His Face, But One Discovery Changed What Everyone Thought
A little Frenchie was left all alone by the side of a South Carolina road with a painful skin condition. Thankfully, the woman who found him was determined to turn his luck around.
An Unexpected Discovery

Finding a dog abandoned by the side of the road is always a heartbreaking experience. For one compassionate woman, it was a sudden twist to her day that she never saw coming.
She had simply been going about her routine when she spotted the small, vulnerable animal. To her surprise, the little dog was a French Bulldog.
“Yes, that was not on my agenda to find a Frenchie abandoned beside the road,” she recalled.
Determined to find out where the puppy belonged, she immediately went door to door in the area. Unfortunately, her search turned up empty, with neighbors confirming the little dog wasn’t theirs.
A Heartbreaking Suspicion

With no owner in sight and the puppy clearly suffering from a severe skin issue, she knew she had to get him professional help.
She rushed the little Frenchie to the local veterinarian. The medical team took one look at his scabs and swollen face and immediately knew what was wrong.
The vet diagnosed the puppy with a condition known as “puppy strangles.”
According to the vet, the puppy’s abandonment was likely no accident. They suspected a backyard breeder had dumped him, mistakenly believing the skin condition was highly contagious.
Focusing On Healing

Now safe in a warm home, the little dog—who was soon named Indy—began his recovery journey.
His rescuer’s initial plan was simple: provide a safe foster space while he recovered. She wanted to give his body time to heal from the painful scabs covering his face.
“I was not initially thinking of keeping him,” she explained. “I just thought, ‘OK, we’re gonna get this puppy healthy, and I’ll find him a great home.'”
Day by day, with proper medication and endless affection, Indy’s skin began to clear up beautifully.
A Change Of Heart

As Indy grew healthier, his sweet personality began to shine through. He was no longer the frightened, sick puppy found by the road.
The more time he spent with his foster family, the deeper their bond became. His rescuer realized she couldn’t bear the thought of him moving on to another house.
“I also did not want him to feel abandoned again,” she confessed.
After talking it over, she and her husband made a life-changing decision. They were going to officially adopt the little guy.
Winning Over Dad

The decision to keep Indy wasn’t made instantly, especially since they already had two dogs at home.
The couple had been on the fence about adding a third dog to their pack. But Indy had a secret weapon: his love for the family’s golf cart.
“All of our dogs love a golf cart ride. And Indy is no different,” his mom shared.
Seeing the little Frenchie eagerly hop in for a ride was the final push her husband needed. That shared joy was exactly what won him over.
Thriving In His New Life

Today, Indy is living a life he could have only dreamed of when he was alone on the side of that road.
He is completely adored by the couple’s children, who love spending time with their new best friend.
Indy even gets to head to work with his mom, enjoying special treats like pup cups along the way.
“He started to really come out of his shell, and he just fit in so well,” she said.
A Grateful Companion

Indy’s transformation from a discarded, sick puppy to a confident, beloved family member is nothing short of beautiful.
He no longer has to worry about being left behind or misunderstood because of a treatable condition.
Instead, he spends his days surrounded by a family who saw his worth from the very beginning.
Looking at the happy little Frenchie now, his mom knows they made the right choice. “He knows that we helped him,” she smiled.
