Puppy Left On A Busy Texas Interstate Had Unusual Paws That Later Revealed Something Heartbreaking
A tiny puppy found abandoned on a busy interstate immediately fell asleep in his rescuer’s lap. But it was a trip to the vet that revealed the heartbreaking truth about his past.
Instant Trust In The Car
Driving down a busy interstate, Roger was on the phone with his wife when he spotted something terrifying. Right there, sitting in the right lane of traffic, was a tiny puppy.
He immediately pulled his car to the side of the road to help. As soon as the puppy saw Roger, he didn’t run away in fear. Instead, he ran right up to his rescuer, desperate for safety.
Roger picked the little dog up and placed him safely inside the car. What happened next completely surprised him. The puppy immediately curled up in Roger’s lap and went fast asleep.

Learning To Be A Puppy
They named the sweet boy R2, and his transformation began almost immediately. Within a week and a half, he looked like a completely normal, healthy pup.
R2 got to experience all the joys he had missed out on, including his very first taste of peanut butter. He was finally living the good life he always deserved.
Roger and his wife suspect R2 was abandoned in the countryside location near the highway. But now, he was safe in a loving home, far away from the dangers of the road.
Overcoming A Fear Of Grass
Because of his tragic past, R2 had to learn how to navigate the outside world. One of the biggest hurdles was simply walking on the lawn.
He was terrified of the grass, likely because he had never felt anything like it on his feet before. It took patience, but his new family slowly helped him get used to the strange sensation.

When he walked, his paws would actually smack against the ground. To help him heal, R2 began daily physical therapy with his new family.
Roger started walking him on uneven surfaces, forcing his paws to conform and build strength. Despite the challenge, R2 kept playing, running, and jumping like a happy puppy.

As he gained strength, R2 began running around the yard, looking like a little deer fawn as he got used to his legs. His fearless adaptation to his new world astounded Roger.
The family ordered a DNA test to learn more about his breed. With his distinct ears, Roger strongly suspects R2 has some Great Dane in his lineage.
R2 proved to be a one-in-a-million dog. He was calm, friendly with people, and got along perfectly with the family’s other rescued animals.
Forming An Unbreakable Bond
Grabbing R2 off the interstate was the first time Roger felt he had truly saved a life. That intense rescue formed a deeply special bond between the two of them.
