Momo was running out of time. The energetic dog found himself back at a Texas animal shelter, facing the very real possibility that his future was uncertain.

He had been adopted by a family, but the arrangement didn’t last. They returned him to the facility with a concerning note on his file that simply read, “Bit hand.”

Because of his history and his intense behavior in the kennel, Momo was placed next on the shelter’s urgent placement list.

Questioning The Label

Inside the shelter walls, Momo was incredibly over the top. His energy was uncontainable, making him appear intimidating to anyone walking by his enclosure.

However, one rescuer named Joseph wasn’t convinced that the dog was a lost cause. He watched Momo through the fence, wondering if the dog was truly aggressive or just too forward and pushy.

There was only one way to find out the truth about the misunderstood pup. Joseph decided he was going to give Momo the chance he so desperately needed.

Refusing To Give Up

Joseph refused to let Momo’s story end in a shelter kennel. He officially pulled the dog from the euthanasia list and took him home for rehabilitation.

“Welcome home, Momo,” Joseph said as they began their new journey together. But the transition wasn’t going to be an easy one.

Momo brought his intense shelter energy right into his new foster environment. Joseph quickly realized just how much work lay ahead for both of them.

An Intense Arrival

In the beginning, Momo was one of the most in-your-face dogs Joseph had ever fostered. He was over the top and initially displayed aggression toward other animals.

Joseph noted that this was just Momo’s approach to everything in life. He would get overly excited, which would immediately kick his prey drive into high gear.

It became clear that Momo wasn’t a bad dog; he was just a dog with far too much unchanneled energy. He needed an outlet to release his pent-up frustration.

Channeling The Energy

To help Momo decompress, Joseph focused on getting him active. The energetic dog needed to go out, run, and simply have fun in an open space.

As Momo began to channel his intense energy in the right way, a beautiful shift occurred. The anxious, pushy shelter dog finally began to heal.

Through structured play and consistent training, Momo started to learn how to manage his excitement. The dog who was once deemed aggressive was learning how to just be a dog.

A Remarkable Transformation

With dedicated training and patience, Momo reached a massive milestone. He was finally calm and confident enough to start meeting other dogs.

The progress he made was nothing short of astounding. Joseph noted that after taking the time to rehab him, Momo completely transformed.

Instead of being reactive, he became one of the rescue’s absolute best social dogs. The label he had been given at the shelter was now a thing of the past.

Momo’s social skills became so strong that Joseph started relying on him to help other anxious rescues. He became a vital part of the rehabilitation team.

Whenever Joseph had a shy dog who needed to be pulled out of their shell, Momo was the one he trusted for the introduction. His friendly, playful nature made him the perfect companion.

Joseph joked that Momo was incredibly good at “flirting” with the shy dogs to make them feel comfortable. Watching him interact, someone even remarked, “He looks like an angel.”

Ready For His Next Chapter

After months of hard work, healing, and personal growth, Joseph knew it was time. “I’m finally feeling like he’s ready to go,” he shared with pride.

Momo is now an amazing companion who simply needs an adoptive home with a little bit of dog experience. He thrives when he can go out and have fun with his humans.

The dog who was once next in line to be put down now has a bright future ahead of him. Because one person took a chance, Momo finally gets to live the wonderful life he always deserved.
