Nobody Came Looking For This Minnesota Dog, Then 27 Families Wanted Her
A terrifying close call on the road leads to a beautiful rescue journey for a mystery dog named Honey.
A Close Call In The Wetlands

Emily was out when she spotted a terrifying scene unfolding right in front of her. A stray dog was wandering dangerously close to traffic, nearly getting hit by a passing car.
Knowing she couldn’t just walk away, Emily quickly sprang into action. She picked up her phone and made a quick call to her boyfriend, starting with a familiar phrase: “Hi. Don’t be mad.”
The frightened pup had retreated into a wetland preserve area, making the rescue a bit tricky. Emily carefully cornered the dog, determined to get her to safety.
Armed with a big, fluffy blanket, Emily gently scooped the dog up. Once she was safely secured in the car, Emily took a deep breath, relieved that the worst was over.
Searching For Answers

With the dog safely in her house, Emily’s next step was to figure out where she came from. She loaded the pup back into the car for a trip to the vet.
They hoped a simple microchip scan would reveal a family frantically looking for their missing pet. Unfortunately, the scan came back empty—the dog had no chip.
Emily was left wondering what to do next. Just 14 hours earlier, the dog had faced a frightening close call on the road, and now she was safe, but completely unidentified.
Determined to find her owners, Emily began making calls. She contacted the local police, as well as departments in Saint Paul and Minneapolis, hoping someone had reported her missing.
An Unprecedented Mystery

Phone calls to shelters and rescues turned up no leads. Emily even took to the streets, showing up at houses and knocking on doors to ask, “Is this your dog?”
Emily was no stranger to helping animals in need. She had previously fostered 30 dogs, giving her plenty of experience with rescues.
However, this situation was entirely different. Normally, when she took in a foster, she at least knew a little bit about their background or history.
With this sweet stray, whom they named Honey, she had absolutely no idea where she came from. They were just going to have to figure it out together.
The Sweetest Personality

Despite the mystery surrounding her past, Honey quickly showed her true colors. She was an incredibly affectionate and loving dog.
If Emily stopped petting her even for a moment, Honey would immediately demand more attention. Her gentle nature made the transition into foster care seamless.
Emily noted that Honey was “such a doll” and incredibly sweet. Her wonderful temperament made it very easy to figure out her needs, even without a known history.
It was clear that whoever Honey was before, she was now ready to embrace a life filled with love and comfort.
Learning The Ropes With Jo

Honey didn’t just bond with Emily; she also made fast friends with the resident dog, Jo. The two of them began sharing daily adventures together.
During their walks, Jo even showed Honey her favorite little spots, guiding the new foster dog through their neighborhood routines.
Back at the house, the two dogs teamed up to guard the property. Emily joked that they were “super safe” with the two pups on the job.
When she wasn’t on patrol, Honey proved to be a “sunbathing beauty,” soaking up the warm rays in the yard and finally relaxing.
An Overwhelming Response

As Honey settled in and showed what a wonderful companion she could be, Emily knew it was time for the next step. It was time to start thinking about finding Honey a forever family.
Emily’s rescue network shared Honey’s story, hoping to find the perfect match. They knew a dog this sweet wouldn’t have to wait long.
The response was absolutely incredible. In just the first 12 hours, they received 27 applications from people wanting to adopt Honey.
It was a testament to how special this little dog was, and Emily knew she would have her pick of wonderful homes.
A Bittersweet Farewell

After carefully reviewing the applications, the perfect family was chosen. While Emily was thrilled for Honey, saying goodbye was still difficult.
She held Honey close, telling her how much she loved her and hoping she wouldn’t even miss her foster mom once she settled into her new life.
Emily knew that letting go was hard, but it was always what was best for the dogs. It meant they were finally getting the forever homes they deserved.
She comforted Honey with the news that she was going to have new siblings who were closer to her own size than her foster sister, Jo-Jo.
The Perfect Forever Pack

Honey’s transition to her new home was a beautiful success. She joined a family that included two other doggy siblings.
Updates showed Honey going on really nice walks with her new brothers and sisters. She fit in perfectly, looking like she had always been part of the pack.
For Emily, Honey’s journey from dodging cars in a wetland preserve to thriving in a loving home was unforgettable.
Looking back on her 30 foster dogs, Emily realized that this sweet, mysterious stray had become the most memorable and special foster of them all.
