Foster homes are often quiet, restful sanctuaries where senior dogs can finally decompress.

After years of hardship or living in loud shelters, these older pups usually just want a soft bed and a gentle hand.

But for one dedicated foster mom named Lisa in California, quiet isn’t always the goal.

She discovered a unique and colorful way to bring out the inner puppy in her older, mellow rescues.

Setting Up The Perfect Party

Lisa loves to throw what she calls “rave parties” for her senior fosters.

The preparation starts with picking out a special light-up collar for each of the dogs.

Every dog gets their own specific color, ranging from green and red to pink and blue.

She always keeps extra collars on hand just in case a new foster joins the pack, allowing her to easily tell them apart in the dark.

Getting Ready For The Big Event

Before the party can begin, Lisa gathers all the dogs together.

She sits them all on the couch to make sure their collars fit comfortably around their necks.

Once she double-checks that everyone is safe and ready to go, the pack heads toward the back door.

The Excitement Builds

As they approach the door, Lisa asks them, “Ready? Ready?”

Her resident dogs already know exactly what is coming next.

Lisa swears that her dogs pass their excitement onto the new fosters, because the entire pack gets incredibly hyped up.

Letting The Dogs Out

The second Lisa opens the door, the backyard party officially starts.

The dogs burst outside, jumping, barking, and running through the yard.

Seeing the bright, colorful lights bouncing around in the dark is a truly joyful sight.

Puppies At Heart

For Lisa, the best part is watching these mellow senior dogs suddenly light up like puppies again.

They run around with a burst of youthful energy that is impossible to ignore.

After about 10 minutes of joyful chaos, Lisa calls an end to the party.

By then, most of the older dogs are happily exhausted and ready for bed.

A Special Parting Gift

Lisa takes off their collars and tucks them inside safely until the next rave night.

But the tradition doesn’t end when a dog leaves her home.

When one of her fosters finally gets adopted, Lisa makes sure to send a rave collar home with them.

That way, they can keep having their special rave nights with their brand-new family.
