A Life Without Comfort
When Callie first saw her, the little dog was hiding under a bench. She was so small and terrified that she was barely even visible.
The dog, named Maggie, had survived a heartbreaking past. She was a former research beagle who had spent the first two and a half years of her life locked inside a laboratory.
In that facility, she lived inside a cold kennel. She had never known the feeling of a soft blanket, let alone the gentle touch of a loving family.
Callie had been looking for a rescue beagle in her area. She wanted to find a sibling for her resident rescue dog, Murphy, and reached out to the Beagle Freedom Project.
A Terrified First Meeting
