Texas Dog Was Deemed Useless By Her Breeder, Then Her New Family Discovered Her Unexpected Talent
A fluffy, gray pup was cast aside by her breeder for being the runt of the litter. Fortunately, a loving Texas family saw her true potential, and now she’s showing the world her unique voice.
A Fluffy Little Mystery
At first glance, it is hard to tell exactly what kind of animal Luna is. With her thick, gray coat, she looks a bit like a tiny sheep, or as her owner fondly jokes, a pile of dryer lint.
But beneath that incredibly fluffy exterior is a dog with a massive personality and an undeniable zest for life.
Luna’s joyful daily routine is a stark contrast to the way her life began. Her early days were filled with uncertainty, and she was nearly left behind before she even had a chance to shine.
An Unwanted Runt
Luna’s original breeder did not see the little dog’s potential. Because she was the runt of the litter, she was quickly dismissed as being of no value.
Adding to her challenges, the tiny pup had a medical condition known as an umbilical hernia. To the breeder, she was simply an unwanted burden.
“The breeder essentially just didn’t want her,” her owner, Lindsay Sherrill, explained. They decided she had no use for the little gray dog and planned to give her away.
A Mother’s Intuition
Fortunately, fate had a much better plan in store for the little runt. Lindsay’s mother happened to see the discarded pup and immediately recognized something special.
She knew right away that this unique, fluffy dog would be the absolute perfect fit for her daughter.
When Lindsay and Luna finally met, the connection was instant. “We just immediately had this bond together,” Lindsay recalled.
Turning Heads In Town
Now safe in a loving home, Luna began to explore the world with her new mom. However, her unusual appearance always draws a crowd.
Whenever Lindsay takes Luna outside, whether they are walking at the local track or shopping around town, people cannot help but stare.
“Everyone is turning their heads like, ‘What is that thing?'” Lindsay laughed. Most people are thoroughly confused by her unique haircut, often mistaking the little dog for a sheep on a leash.
Finding Her Voice
As Luna grew more comfortable in her new life, a surprising hidden talent began to emerge. It started with a simple howling noise during playtime.
She would also let out a little howl if Lindsay did not do exactly what she wanted, like handing over a tasty treat.
When Lindsay took Luna back to school with her, the vocalizations only continued. Realizing how expressive her dog was, Lindsay decided to encourage it, telling her, “Hey, sing for me.”
The Chatty Companion
That simple encouragement was all Luna needed. She quickly realized that her voice was her greatest tool, and things just spiraled from there.
Today, Luna is an incredibly chatty companion. If Lindsay gets up from the couch and Luna wants her to stay, the little dog will immediately start howling in protest.
She is especially talkative during playtime, but she is also happy to chat whenever someone instigates a conversation with her.
A Picky Conversationalist
Despite her talkative nature, Luna is actually quite selective about who she chooses to converse with. She mainly reserves her special voice for Lindsay.
She will occasionally chat with Lindsay’s mother-in-law, but when it comes to Lindsay’s own parents, the dog prefers to keep quiet.
Luna also has a funny way of showing her displeasure. When she gets angry, she will bare her teeth in a comical way, or gently nibble at Lindsay’s toes as she walks by.
Holiday Tunes And Dance Parties
Luna’s love for vocalizing eventually evolved into a deep appreciation for music, specifically Christmas tunes. She is always ready for a rendition of “Jingle Bells” or “White Christmas.”
The duo frequently hosts their own private dance parties, whether they are hanging out at home or riding in the car.
Sometimes Lindsay will dance while Luna provides the musical howling, and other times, the fluffy dog will happily join in on the dancing herself.
A Big Personality In A Small Package
From being an unwanted runt to a singing sensation in her own home, Luna’s outgoing personality shines brighter every day. She has absolutely no problem letting her family know exactly how she feels.
When she is full of energy, she can be found doing wild zoomies around the house. When she is happy, she wants to play fetch or sing her heart out.
And if you happen to open the refrigerator without offering her a snack, you can expect a grumpy little growl. For a dog who was once deemed useless, Luna has proven that she is truly one of a kind.
