When Dockers suffered from IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) and became paralyzed, his owners no longer wanted him. They brought him to a local shelter and walked away, leaving the paralyzed dog’s fate entirely up in the air.
Fortunately, Dockers didn’t have to wait long for someone to see his true worth. Mac’s Mission, an animal rescue dedicated to helping special needs pets, learned about his situation.
They immediately stepped in to pull him from the shelter. They placed the sweet dog in a foster home, ensuring he had the medical care and comfort he desperately needed.
The Three-Hour Drive
Meanwhile, a couple looking to expand their family saw Dockers’ story and felt an instant connection. Even though they had never cared for a paralyzed dog before, they knew they wanted to help him.
“My boyfriend and I talked about it, and we felt that he would be a great fit with us,” his new mom explained.
Determined to give him a home, they drove three hours to Virginia to meet him. The connection was undeniable, and they brought Dockers home that very same day.

Cruising Through The Snow
Dockers’ love for the outdoors isn’t limited to sunny beach days. He is perfectly happy to take his wheels out in any kind of weather.
When his family got six inches of snow over the winter, they didn’t let it slow him down.
They attached little skis to the bottom of his wheelchair, and Dockers happily cruised right through the fresh powder.
