Despite the neglect he had endured, he was about to get the second chance he so desperately deserved.
Sweet Despite the Pain
The dog was quickly rescued and taken to The Animal Pad, a dog rescue organization based in San Diego.
They named the sweet boy Figaro, affectionately calling him “Figgy.”
At first, the rescue team had no idea what was causing his blindness or his severe hair loss.
Yet, despite everything he had been through, Figaro remained incredibly happy, eagerly offering kisses to the people trying to help him.
Searching for Answers
Once in the care of the rescue, Figaro was immediately spoiled with the best nutrition available.

He proved to be a gentle patient, happily sitting on laps like a big puppy while the staff evaluated him.
They eventually discovered that an autoimmune disease was the root cause of his baldness.
The Healing Process Begins
With proper medication and a lot of tender loving care, Figaro’s body finally began to heal.
He took his daily eye drops like a champion, always ready for a well-earned treat afterward.
Slowly but surely, his hair started to grow back, and he began to truly thrive.
The bald spots on his head and back completely disappeared as the vet team got his autoimmune disease under control.
Stepping Into a Real Home
After spending time recovering at the rescue, a wonderful milestone arrived.
A dedicated volunteer decided to take Figaro home as a foster dog.
Because he was blind and likely had never lived indoors before, he had to learn how to navigate a house from scratch.
But as he settled in, his goofy, lovable personality finally started to shine.

Living in a home wasn’t the only challenge Figaro had to overcome.

Today, Figaro is a transformed dog, but his journey isn’t quite over yet.
He is currently looking for his forever home or a long-term foster in the San Diego area.
His current foster absolutely adores him, but they need to find him a home so they can continue fostering and saving more lives.
Figaro just needs a family willing to give him the continued TLC he needs to be his absolute best self.
