Time was running out for a heavily pregnant Georgia dog who had been left behind just outside of town.
With her belly full and the temperatures dropping, she sought refuge in the only place she could find: the nearby Georgia woods.
When a local rescuer received calls about the abandoned dog, they knew they had to act fast.
It seemed like she was going to have her puppies at any moment, and the harsh elements were no place for newborns.
Hiding in the Thick Brush
The rescuer arrived at the scene and managed to spot the frightened dog relatively quickly.
However, actually catching her felt nearly impossible.
The dog had tucked herself away in some incredibly thick brush, using the dense branches as a shield from the outside world.
Every time the rescuer tried to take a step closer, the terrified mother-to-be would immediately disappear back into the shadows.
A Race Against the Cold
