Minnesota Dog Keeps Destroying Her Toys, But What She Does During Their “Surgery” Is Priceless

After being rescued from a suspected puppy mill, a sassy and expressive dog named Meira found the perfect Minnesota home where she learned to talk and care for her stuffed animals.

A Heartbreaking Scene

Deep inside a quiet, abandoned house, a devastating secret was waiting to be found. Fourteen dogs had been left behind in their crates, completely alone and without the care they desperately needed.

Among them was a tired mother dog and her litter of nine vulnerable puppies. The situation looked bleak, but help was finally on the way.

Rescuers discovered the dogs in what appeared to be a makeshift puppy mill. The house had been vacated by its owners, leaving the innocent animals trapped inside.

The mother dog was in particularly rough shape. She had given everything she had to keep her nine puppies fed, neglecting her own health in the process.

Thankfully, the dogs were safely removed from the property and placed into the care of rescue organizations. For one little puppy in the litter, a completely new life was about to begin.

The Perfect Match

A woman named Greta was scrolling online when she saw a post that stopped her in her tracks. Pit Squad Rescue had shared a photo of the nine rescued siblings on their Facebook page.

Greta knew she had to meet them. When she arrived to visit the litter, one specific puppy made her choice incredibly easy.

The little dog, who would soon be named Meira, walked right over to Greta. She crawled directly into her lap and peacefully fell asleep.

“She’s perfect,” Greta thought at that exact moment. “She’s our dog.”

Sassy And Expressive

As Meira settled into her new home, her true personality quickly began to shine. She proved to be a massive love bug, but she also brought plenty of attitude.

Greta describes her as the “sassiest girl in the world.” Meira has an incredibly expressive face that broadcasts exactly what she is thinking at any given moment.

Sometimes, her eyes widen in a judgmental stare as if to ask, “What are you doing?” Despite her sass, she loves meeting other people and dogs, and would happily play all day long.

Learning To Speak

Meira is an incredibly smart dog who knows how to advocate for herself. She can be quite stubborn, especially when she wants something specific.

Whenever she is waiting for a treat, she will impatiently stomp her feet to get her point across. But her communication skills go far beyond simple body language.

Greta introduced Meira to a set of 12 different talking buttons. The clever dog quickly learned how to press them to ask for exactly what she wants, including playtime and attention.

Her favorite button, however, is the one designated for “mom.” When Greta leaves the house, Meira will press the mom button multiple times, as if asking where she went and when she will return.

A True Velcro Dog

The bond between Greta and Meira is undeniably strong. Greta spent countless hours training the rescue pup, which helped forge a deep, unbreakable connection.

Meira is a classic “Velcro dog” who loves to follow Greta from room to room. “She’s on my tail all the time,” Greta shared.

They hate being apart, so Greta tries to take Meira everywhere she possibly can. Whether they are running errands or just hanging out at home, they are always by each other’s side.

The Stuffed Animal ICU

Like many dogs, Meira has a lot of energy to burn. She requires at least two walks a day to stay settled, but she also loves to lounge around as a couch potato.

One of her favorite indoor hobbies is carefully picking apart her stuffed toys. Because she destroys them so frequently, Greta had to establish a special “ICU” for the injured stuffies.

Whenever a toy gets torn, Greta steps in to perform “surgery” with a needle and thread. Meira takes these medical procedures very seriously.

Waiting For A Recovery

During one recent surgery on a stuffed elephant, Meira proved just how much she cares about her plush friends. She followed Greta to the table and sat right next to her.

The concerned dog watched the entire mending process, crying softly because she wanted her elephant back. She refused to leave until she was sure the toy was going to be okay.

Once the stitches were complete, the elephant was returned to a very happy and relieved Meira.

Ready For The Seasons Ahead

Meira is a big fan of the water, but her environment is about to change. With the harsh Minnesota winter quickly approaching, her outdoor swimming days are numbered.

Greta hopes Meira will remember how much she loved the snow when she was a tiny puppy. No matter the weather, though, this rescued dog has a warm, safe home forever.

From a dark crate in an abandoned house to a life filled with talking buttons and toy surgeries, Meira has blossomed. “She honestly makes my hard days easier,” Greta said, thankful for every moment with her perfect dog.
