When a puppy with paralyzed legs landed on a Nevada shelter’s euthanasia list, one woman stepped up to foster him. She never expected the incredible milestones he was about to reach.
A Beautiful Face On Borrowed Time
Abby was scrolling through her feed one morning when she saw a beautiful, unforgettable face. It belonged to a small puppy sitting in a shelter kennel.
The puppy, later named Benny, had been surrendered to a facility in Fresno, California. Abby guessed that his previous owners gave him up because his legs hadn’t worked since birth.
Because of his severe mobility issues, Benny’s time was running out. He was on his last call, and he was scheduled to be put to sleep if no one stepped up to adopt him.

Watson, who uses a wheelchair, quickly became Benny’s new best friend and little brother. Benny is always willing to cuddle and sleep right next to him.
When they go out on walks, Watson follows Benny everywhere. Abby notes that there is no better environment for a differently-abled dog than living with a brother who has already overcome his own challenges.
The Perfect Foster Fail
Originally, Benny was only supposed to be a foster dog. Because of his handsome, German Shepherd-like looks, a lot of people would inquire about adopting him.
However, as soon as potential adopters heard about the disabilities with his legs, they would quickly say, “No, thank you.”
It saddened Abby that people weren’t willing to adapt their homes for him, but it also made her realize that Benny was exactly where he belonged. She officially made him a permanent part of her family.
A Daily Inspiration
Today, Abby’s main focus is on the dogs that other people choose to pass by. She knows firsthand that they provide just as much love as any other pet.
Despite his rough start in life, Benny is as happy as any other dog could possibly be. He never let his physical limitations slow down his spirit.
