South Dakota Rescuers Notice Something Tiny Trembling Alone On A Dirt Road
When South Dakota rescuers first met Kringle, he was trembling and terrified. After surviving a horrific start to life, this tiny puppy showed incredible resilience and slowly learned that humans could be kind.
A Heartbreaking Discovery
When rescuers first laid eyes on Kringle, the tiny puppy was terrified. Being around people made him shake so violently, and he cried out in fear.
After what had happened to him, it was hard for his rescuers to even imagine the depth of the trauma he was feeling.
They were notified about the little dog when he was only about six weeks old. He had been found abandoned on a dirt road after suffering severe harm.
He was so small that he fit perfectly in the palm of his rescuer’s hand. His condition was extremely serious, but his rescuer was determined to help him recover.
Rushed for Emergency Care
Without wasting a single second, the rescue team picked the puppy up and drove him straight to their animal hospital.
His condition was devastating to witness. His skin showed extensive damage, revealing the seriousness of what he had endured.
During his first day at the hospital, the veterinary staff focused entirely on stabilizing him. He was immediately given fluids and much-needed pain medications to ease his suffering.
A Long Road of Healing
Stabilizing Kringle was only the very first step in a massive medical journey. The tiny puppy had a really rough go of it in the weeks that followed.
He had to undergo at least a dozen surgeries to repair the damage to his fragile body.
Alongside the surgeries, he endured tons of bandage changes and constant medical monitoring. It was a grueling process for such a young dog.
The Little Dragon
Despite the odds stacked against him, Kringle’s fighting spirit began to shine through. Then, one incredible day, he was up and walking.
To protect his healing skin, he wore a cute little bandaged costume. His rescuer affectionately noted that he looked just like a little dragon.
Seeing him up on his feet gave his caretaker so much hope. It was the first real sign that Kringle was actually going to be okay.
Time to Decompress
When Kringle was finally medically cleared to leave the hospital, his rescuer was thrilled to bring him home. However, the transition wasn’t instantly easy.
He was very uneasy at first and incredibly shy in his new surroundings. The trauma of his past still lingered in his mind.
His foster mom knew he needed time to decompress. They focused entirely on his emotional and physical healing, letting him set the pace.
Learning to Trust
Slowly but surely, the walls around Kringle’s heart began to come down. He started realizing that he was finally safe.
He began acting like a normal, playful puppy, learning to trust the people who cared for him.
His personality blossomed, and his rescuer lovingly compared his playful antics to those of a toddler. He even proudly wore a little rhino outfit as his skin continued to heal.
Gentle With Kittens
As Kringle grew more confident, it was time to introduce him to the other animals in the home. They had to be very careful with his sensitive skin, but he kept doing exceptionally well.
He loved to play with the other pets, but his sweetest bond was with a batch of kittens the rescuer was nursing back to health.
Kringle was incredibly gentle with the tiny felines. The kittens loved him just as much, always wanting to cuddle up with him, and they became really close friends.
An Inseparable Bond
Kringle had found his safe haven, and he knew exactly who to thank for it. If the other animals started roughhousing, he would immediately run to his rescuer for comfort.
Because of everything he had been through, his mom admits he got away with a little bit more than the other pets did.
Today, Kringle wants to be with his rescuer at all times. They have become completely inseparable, and she is forever grateful that this brave little survivor is here with them.
