For a long time, no one quite understood what was happening with a special dog named Ino.

He had been passed from home to home by well-meaning people who were desperately trying to help him.

Despite their best efforts, his caretakers didn’t really know what was wrong with him or how to give him the specific care he required.

He needed someone with the right medical background and a whole lot of patience to finally give him a place to belong.

A Long Journey Across States

Ino’s search for a permanent family took him on a massive road trip across the country.

He originally started his journey in Oklahoma, hoping to find a family equipped to handle his unique needs.

From there, he made his way to Utah, and then up to Idaho, constantly on the move.

Eventually, his travels brought him all the way to Washington State, where his life was about to change forever.

The Perfect Match

In Washington, a veterinary assistant named Bryn was about to enter Ino’s life.

A doctor that Bryn worked with approached her and asked if she might be interested in taking the dog in.

For Bryn, the decision didn’t require much deliberation.

“When I saw him, I just knew he was going to be a part of our family,” Bryn recalled.

Diagnosing The Wobbles

Ino officially made his way to Bryn in February, and the two immediately got to work figuring out his health.

He underwent lots of medical testing to finally solve the mystery of his condition.

The tests revealed that Ino has cerebellar hypoplasia, a condition where the part of the brain controlling motor functions is underdeveloped.

They also discovered that he is mostly blind, though doctors aren’t entirely sure if the blindness is connected to his neurological condition.

An Immediate Trust

Because Ino was mostly blind and had been moved around so much, Bryn naturally had some concerns about his temperament.

With blind dogs, rescuers always worry about them being defensive or fearful of their unseen surroundings.

But Ino completely shattered those expectations.

“He wanted to snuggle and play and just immediately was a friend,” Bryn shared. “He just immediately was so trusting of me and so loving.”

Building Up Strength

While Ino’s spirit was strong, his body needed a little extra help when he first arrived.

He was pretty weak and had a really hard time standing on smoother floors.

Exercising or walking around for long periods of time proved to be a major challenge for the wobbly pup.

However, Bryn has been working closely with him for a while, and he has grown significantly stronger under her care.

No Limits On Life

Bryn learned that cerebellar hypoplasia is something dogs are born with, and thankfully, it never worsens throughout their life.

Knowing his condition was stable, she was determined to give him the best life possible.

“A dog only gets to experience what you allow them to experience, and I really didn’t want his life to be limited just because of his condition,” she explained.

Now, Ino regularly goes on hikes and trips, absolutely loving every moment he spends outdoors.

The Ultimate Backseat Driver

Today, Ino is a happy, confident dog with a hilarious personality quirk.

Despite being mostly blind, he has very strong opinions about how his family operates a vehicle.

“He hates bad drivers, so my husband and I joke that we know when we’re driving bad because he will bark in the back of the car,” Bryn laughed.

From a misunderstood dog bouncing between homes to a beloved family member calling out bad driving from the backseat, Ino finally has the beautiful, limitless life he always deserved.
