An Alarm Clock With Paws
Every morning in New York, Ashley knows exactly how her day will begin. Long before any digital alarms can go off, her dog, Bug, is already on the job.
Right around 7:00 a.m. like clockwork, the sweet pup makes sure her mom is awake and ready to start the day.
It is the start of a busy routine for the New York duo. After all, Bug has some very important places to be.
Setting The Morning Pace
Before they can head off to work, the pair always heads out for their morning walk.
This is Bug’s time to shine and take in the neighborhood. Depending on how she is feeling, Bug decides if she is in the mood to socialize with others.
Once her morning rounds are complete, it is time to start the daily commute.
The Daily Commute
Ashley hosts a podcast called “Good Noticings”—formerly “Celebrity Memoir Book Club”—and her studio is about a 20-minute walk from their house.
For Bug, this is no ordinary walk. She absolutely loves to come along for the journey to the office.
The fresh air and exercise are just the warm-up for her actual workday.
Stepping Into Her Role
The moment they arrive at the studio, Bug’s entire demeanor changes.
She sprints down the hallway with total confidence, acting like she completely owns the place.
According to Ashley, the dedicated dog immediately takes on the role of “second gaffer” for the production.
Safety Checks And Studio Laps
Bug takes her unofficial studio job very seriously. She likes to inspect all the equipment before the cameras roll.
She carefully checks all the cords and sniffs the lighting gear to ensure everything is safe.
Finally, she does a complete lap around the room just to make sure everything is in perfect order.
An Emotional Reunion
Bug’s favorite part of the job isn’t the equipment, though. It’s seeing Ashley’s co-host, Claire Parker.
Claire is one of Bug’s absolute best friends. Normally, they record twice a week, but Claire had been gone for a few weeks.
When Bug finally saw her favorite coworker for the first time in a month, she was “double excited” to be reunited.
A Throne Fit For A Queen
Once the greetings are out of the way, it is time to settle in for the recording. Naturally, Bug has her own special spot.
She sits on her very own throne in the studio like a little queen. The seat is actually one of the show’s original recording chairs.
Bug loved the chair so much that when the hosts upgraded their furniture, they knew they had to keep the old one just for her.

Bug fits right into the studio environment, especially when the team is recording their bonus episodes.
She isn’t always a silent observer, however. Sometimes, she interrupts the recording a little bit with her own thoughts.
Ashley jokes that maybe Bug just doesn’t always agree with what they are talking about.
Sleeping On The Job
Despite her occasional interruptions, Bug is generally the perfect studio companion.
Most of the time, she will simply curl up in her special chair and take a peaceful nap while her mom and Claire record the episode.
Surrounded by her favorite people in her favorite chair, this sweet dog is truly living her best life every single day.
