When a sweet puppy named Honey Bunches was hit by an electric scooter in New York, her life changed in an instant. The terrible accident left her with a broken femur and in desperate need of medical attention.

Sadly, her family could not afford the expensive care required to fix her leg. With heavy hearts, they made the difficult decision to surrender her to the shelter.

But even in her pain, the little dog’s gentle spirit shone through. It wasn’t long before a kind-hearted foster fell completely in love with her and decided to take her in.

An Early Morning Journey

The first step in Honey Bunches’ recovery was getting the surgery she desperately needed. At 6:30 in the morning, her foster mom loaded her up for the important vet visit.

“She’s obviously a little anxious, but she’s ready,” her foster mom noted as they prepared to head out.

Despite the nerves, the sweet puppy seemed to know she was in safe hands. She was finally on her way to healing.

The Challenge Of Crate Rest

After a successful surgery, the real work began. Honey Bunches was prescribed strict crate rest for six to eight weeks to ensure her leg healed properly.

However, keeping a young puppy completely still proved to be a bit of a challenge. “We were 95.9 percent compliant with that, because she still is a baby and she wanted to play,” her foster mom joked.

Even while resting, she found ways to enjoy the sunshine and the love of her new caretakers.

Within a few months, the incredible news arrived. Honey Bunches was officially cleared to play.

The veterinary team was super impressed with her muscle tone and how beautifully she was healing. Her foster mom credited much of this success to the other dogs in the home.

The resident dogs were incredibly gentle and sweet with her, providing the perfect tender loving care. She formed a special bond with another foster dog named Oreo, who helped her navigate her recovery.

Rehabilitation And Agility

To help rebuild her strength, her foster mom introduced a creative solution. They started agility training as a fun and engaging way to rehabilitate her physically.

Honey Bunches didn’t have to do it alone, either. She and Oreo trained together, cheering each other on through the obstacles.

The physical therapy worked wonders, transforming the once-injured puppy into a strong, confident dog.

With her leg fully healed and her spirit shining brighter than ever, Honey Bunches was finally ready. It was time for her to find her forever home.

The puppy who had arrived in so much pain was now a joyful, playful dog. She celebrated her milestones with messy, happy pup cups.

It didn’t take long for the perfect adopter to spot her and realize she was exactly what they were looking for.

A Beautiful New Life

Honey Bunches was officially adopted by a woman named Ashley. To mark the fresh start, Ashley gave her a beautiful new name: Autumn.

Today, Autumn is fully healed and has all the freedom in the world. She even goes rock climbing with Ashley all the time, proving just how strong her leg has become.

For her foster mom, seeing Autumn thrive is the ultimate reward. “It is just amazing because that’s what she needed. That’s what she deserves,” she shared, grateful to see the sweet dog living the dream life they always wanted for her.
